Final 8brcam post for 09

Well I have to congratulate 3 players this season. Stu, Jamie, Ant. These three I will say have had the most successful 8brcam season. Jamie showed he still has the potential to reach a peak form of play against tough competition (as he should always be known). Ant gets the nod for taking out the two time defending champ. Stu for getting that elusive first 8brcam championship. In terms of 09 the most successful players of the year is certainly a topic up for debate but im going to round it off like this.

this seasons #1 player and its his 2nd time in 3 seasons. He is here to play and this time I think he wants that semi finals showing. He was the hottest player in 8brcam and I think hes got the type of game thats going to get through tanmay.

he is always an underrated opponent and has played great players to the limits. Hes made semis and hes got the game for more. Its going to be about timing and luck for this player unless he finds a way to see whole tables as oppose to just playing off his shot. Hes a coin flip as of late and hes got to hit consistant form at sometime.

Stephen
Well Stephen pulled out a underdog win but it didn't look it if you were there. It clearly showed that Jordan was not his usual self in this match. It could either be from rust as he didn't even finish his sets (got in playoffs off of two 10's). Stephen, however, also managed to show he is someone to be watched. He ran tables and was well under control for most part he also played safeties in the correct spot.

Charlie
A well known player and a good player. Hes not quite at a point where I would consider him to be a threat to win it all anymore, But with that being said he is also capable of beating almost everyone in this competition. Charlie has gone from the guy who used to brown nose behind good players because he always lost(Charlie) to talking trash towards many and winning(PC). Which one shows up this season? I feel like his trash talking days are behind him, for a little while anyway(right charlie?). IF he still feels he is the best then he's going to have to prove it. This is a good chance for Charlie to show he isn't a middle tier type of player.

He has shown signs of improvement recently and has beaten si this season (si is coming off his worst season ever) and he carred his P throuh round one of the 2v2 and almost did it again until he went up against...yeah Luis. They went the distance but I want to see how he does in the competition Luis likes more.

The two time 8brcam winner and once was earlier this year, he also had a finals loss this year. A very successful year as hes done something most will never do in getting to a 8brcam finals. He looks like he has caught some form again and hes undefeated so far this season(I'm going to ignore his sad outings in every other competiton).

Marcel
He made semis last season and is in semis of ucc now. This is a tough player when he is on but a completely different player when hes not into the race. If he comes into this thinking hes lost then Ant will really dominate this set. Marcel though has shown toughness against Ant and I dont think hes quite ready to let Ant through.

He is a former finalist and was a player who managed huge wins against big name players in the past. Jesus is a bit of an up and comer and I think hes going to cum all over Krunal in this match up.

Here is the next group of players who are capable of a huge upset in playoffs.

1. adambuddy - hes been #1 seed already this year and it looks like he has the best record this season again barring any ff's like ants soon to be 10-0. He is a good player all around and even beat me in groups and im sure he wants to carry that 6-0-0season momentum into a deep playoff run. He has quite a few flaws in his game and is gonna have to find a way into that next step a player takes to become relevant in regular talks of being a contending player.

2.jabronni16 - Hes won a prize tourney before and made final in a 8brcam season. I didnt really count last season when I saw him even though he had a good record, because it was his returning season. This being his 2nd full season though we will see how the guy really does come playoff time.

3.xl_gameover_lx - We all know kevin and his loud mouth. Hes also been behind numerous upsets over big name players. He is border line even when hes playing his best. I think he needs to just play the game and stop worrying about chatting shit and the rest should play itself out.

4.optimus.price_xl - I dont know when its going to happen but this guy will have a breakout season. He is a very smart player and I've mentioned him before but I know when I see potential and this man has it.

5. xlx_skill_xlx - A very solid player. His only loss so far is to Luis and his set vs kevin(sixohtwo) will be telling but I cant make a list without mentioning him.

PC Spot Light

Well this guy man...What can I say about him. Kevin made a post about him on his blog but I'm not going to rant about that too much. But he has said hes picked his game back up and is playing great pool. He also believes he is probably the best active playing player if someone asked him. Hes won back to back 8brcam championships and has 1 ucc win and is in ucc finals now. He is currently 5-0-0 in 8brcam and I guess you can say hes lived up to the word hes said of playing well.

Ive also noticed how I am 2-0 vs PC in 8brcam and 0-1 or 0-2 in ucc. I cant say he is a bad player because he is not,clearly. What I can say is that his ego is clearly bloated lately.

He said he would play me for money but did not want to put the money up when it came down to it. He said he would embarrass me and how he would dismantle me in a race. So as it turns out we got matched up in wcp 2v2 after Craig's impressive carry. PC is as hot as he is ever going to be right now so it was a perfect time to play him.

He was mouthy as ever. Extremely confident in his game. he demanded I play him as I was online but I already had plans.

Cam Comps

So basically I've put a really long and hard thought about this one. We have quite a few cam competitions as I have said previously. Now I am thinking about which ones are really worth playing. I say worth playing because when you win one you get a sense of entitlement. Now think about which cam comp would give you that appeasement. I can only speak for myself and if I was to select a general order of rank for the competitions this would be it.

1. 8brcam
The longest current running Cam Competition. It is always ran the best, with the best competition, and is the ideal comp everyone wants to win.

2. U.C.C.
This comp hasseen better days, but even at that its never been #1. It had a good run witih ucc master but I think it did more hurt then good for the comp. Its days are numbered but for now. It is #2

3. W.C.P.
This is a new format type of cometition and it seems like the players have taken a real liking to this style comp. With the 2v2 probably deciding whether this is going to be the #2 competition sooner then later depending on the success it will have on the players in it

There are other competition out but even with the next 2 being warmups for 8brcam there are no other cam comps worth playing in or mentioning.

I think by slim margin this is the worst group in 8brcam. Ant is a great player but Matt is only good for a short span and he is the next best player. There is not really any deep threats coming from this group aside from Ant.

7. Group D

With 1 great player being myself and a good player in Adam (2 seasons removed from #1 rank) this is again a very weak group with not much talent to pose a threat deep in the playoffs from other then yours truly.

6. Group G

Now they start to get a little tougher and more competitive this group could be a very tight group in points because there is about 4-5 solid players with potential for more but time will tell.

5. Group H

Im not really sure what to expect from this group but if it turns like it can I can see pc and Tanmay making some noise in playoffs.

This group has the potental to bring the most amount of players in a deep run so I am going to say because of quality that this is the toughest group in 8brcam,

The players I personally think are the top players in pool right now are starting off pretty well in 8brcam.

As 8brcam groups are coming to an end the fight for the top 5 seeds are pretty close. Last season the top 5 seeds got a bye into round 2 and it could give a break that is needed or throw someone into a funk. Very few seasons has the #1 player actually won 8brcam. There is always a dark horse looking to come play hard after a rough group stage and just take everyone out by surprise. From the top of my head I can think of three 8brcam winners that finished 3-3 in groups and theres possibly more but its still fun to pick a fan favorite that seemingly will not lose.

Even though all of these players are capable of playing really well I really can only imagine that 4 of these players will have a deep run into playoffs as not all can win.

Assuming that these players don't play each other early keep an eye on these 4

Top Tier
Jamie is one of the oldest old schoolers around and in his time he was at the top of the game. This isn't his peak but its as close as he will be for a long time, if hes going to make a splash then these coming seasons (2 maybe 3) will be huge for him.

p.s. hes one of the few who I don't think needs to actually win an 8brcam to be known as one of the all time best shooters. He was better then half of the 8brcam winners to date just at the wrong time.

Luis is always going to be tough to beat, he doesn't need an intro. Oh and hes won the most 8brcams so everyone better know hes playing to win.

CK the most underrated player depending on which CK shows up. He will either wow you or make you think wtf and then makes it work anyway? He isn't underrated by people not thinking he is good (you haven't played him if you think he is bad) but by the few that don't think he is elite. Hes never won an 8brcam but hes been more successful in almost any season of any comp you point out of his then the person reading this(you).

Myself, defending champion and I want it again.

The Middle Tier
Daru, Jordan, Matt

All of these guys are good players and will not give in easy but I still think they are missing something in their game.

Daru is probably the most well rounded player of the 3. He can pretty much do alot of everything and If he really wanted it he probably could be an 8brcam winner sooner then later.

Jordan I said I wouldn't doubt him again and I wont. He will make you pay if you don't finish, He will make you pay if you cant safety, He will win if you don't play good aka better then you did in groups if your not 5-1-0.

Matt is not the pushover of months and years before. This guy will run you...Then do it again. Don't miss and if you think you will then play a safety and hope you get a shot. When Matt is hot he is a top player I just don't know how long he can keep it going.

Bottom Tier

Now being the bottom is no dishonor, just to be mentioned as a top player out of a
division is a compliment.

Marcel and Shawn

Marcel was a tough decision but I had to put him at the bottom of the top because I just haven't seen enough consistency out of him. I do believe he will be a top player in the future if he keeps playing but for now I think he should be happy if he makes quarters.

Shawn, a childish hot headed guy and its going to ruin a playoff set of his and that's why I cant see him being a top threat. Attitude aside hes a good player with good english and I've even seen him complete a few impressive tables that were not few and far between. Other then that get him mad and you will be in the clear.

Not quite there yet

Nakash is a good player and is probably only in the top 10 until more sets are played, gl in playoffs

There were many players I could pick for this one ranging from conor (who just won wcp and his only loss is to Luis) to Kevin(gameover) who finished 3-3 but if this player continues to play I don't see a stronger player outside of the top 10.

He can run well and safety even better. He plays smart and patient and has something that not many people have which is he can separate himself from the pack by just keeping his cool.

Hes a nice guy and he can play decent sometimes even if hes a little more on the banger spectrum. Very unfortunate for this player to end up in the group he did.

Well Jordy (powerized) really showed me why he has been deep in the cam cup playoffs with this impressive victory. Jordy completely out played Shawn through well played safety and pretty precise runs. I wont be taking Jordy lightly and neither should anyone else after this result.

Good matchup here, Jon is a cool level headed player. If he plays bad I doubt it has anything to do with how well his opponent is playing, when hes on his game he is going to put up a fight and when hes not..well..he wont.

Conor...Im not really sure what to say about this guy. He can be a really good player or a really lucky banger. Its hard to know when the line crosses skill to luck but one thing you cant argue with is results and Conor does well in that department. Both of these players are off to a good start at 2-0-0 and im going to pick conor to win this but its Jons to lose.

This match will be full of surprises, Tan is off to the best start in 8brcam with a 4-0-0 record (in a tougher group then Shawns) and Chirag started off his return with a loss. Tanmay is an under rated player. It seems like hes always playing and losing against the player who is eventually in the final but he never gives in easily until hes about to win. Chirag is a good player who plays pretty well in any circumstance. I do believe Chirag can take out tan if he plays well so again this is Chirags to lose.

Must See Matches

While I was taking a look at this 8brcam season I noticed there is a couple of matches that shouldn't be missed if given the opportunity to watch. I'm going to list off a couple with a description.

Match 1

xchriskarenx vs p00l_charlie

This is always a great match up to watch as both of these players have very aggressive styles and they make tables work for them no matter the layout. One player is a 2 time 8brcam champion (back to back might I add). The other is a 2 time 8brcam finalist possibly 2 shots away from being a 2 time 8brcam champion. I believe PC has the advantage on CK in their 8brcam matchups but its never been easy. CK is coming off a successful cam comp run in ucc and looks to be the favorite here even if he has a loss already (hopefully that was his bad set). I haven't seen too much of PC lately so I'm just going to act like he is still a good shooter. PC went from being one of the most overrated 8brcam players when he won his first to solidifying himself as a dominant player by winning a 2nd and then a ucc. As of right now I think CK is the better player and PC will have a tough time winning this unless he plays like the 8brcam champ of early 08 (and ck gets another yahoo).

Jordy and Shawn, At first thought someone would think Jordy would be the easy pick due to his successful runs in all his competitions, but after watching Shawn play and remembering how I played Jordy I really think that this matchup favors Shawn's style. My Early Interleague Days

It seems like now a days its all about cam comps. There are new competitions popping up out of nowhere with just as many people joining them, it seems like everyone is in a rush for their first cam comp victory. I wonder when the change from inter league to cam comps happened but I suppose it started with wpc even though it wasn't the first competition out.

Anyway, here's a little bit about me

When pool was fun for me it seemed like we couldn't get enough inter leagues. I would get home and have ipc and pit along with some match play like mlp plc and whatever 5v5 for the time from npa to pro. There was always something to play for, a need to prove yourself when everyone didn't know everybody. I remember the exact moment I realised that I wanted to be a great player. I was playing with bbm and Brian (fsm_brian) was one of my best online friends at the time. He told me I wasn't good enough to play for bbm in mlp because it was the inter league that was about to be the best (this was when plc was still the top inter league..yeah it happened once). He told me I should find another league until I got better. I took it as an insult, which it was, because he told me he believed Ryan(kula) was better then me and I instantly had a goal. I knew where I stood in the eyes of everyone and it wasn't where I thought I should be.

What seemed like days turned to weeks and then months. That mlp season with hp seemed like it would never end because yet again I saw my worth as a ypool player. I couldn't believe it, I was a mediocre player even after all the time I spent playing. I didn't know why I just could not get it. Why couldn't everything just work out like I thought it should. I couldn't stand being just another player to throw in. Until suddenly I made a switch in my game that completely changed everything seemingly over night. I made adjustments during games that I completely hated and was terribly against. This very moment was when my safety play began and at one point in ypool it may or may not have been known as the toughest to go up against. I learned strategy and developed my table vision because I could actually read the opponent based on his first shots. I knew what they wanted and how to stop it. I felt unstoppable and within a year I felt like there wasn't anybody worth playing outside of inter leagues because that's where I would showcase my style. It was what I considered to be my area of expertise if I had one. I was cockier then ever and had people following me telling me how great I was. The only people who were my friends were my team mates. If I played against you I was going to win at any cost. I became admin in bbm and I took over inter leagues, I was ready to steamroll the competition and show my worth, finally I was the only one in my mind that would cause anything to go wrong. I was the man, and everything in bbm with inter leagues ran through me. Halfway through my first season playing with absolute confidence in my ability as a player I was banned. I got caught playing for another player and just like that. I was the reason that I came short of my goal. I wanted to win everything and I couldn't compete.

Within a couple weeks I was then also banned from plc for cursing Panda who was close friends with Troopinson(r.i.p.) Just like that...I had nothing to play for that meant anything to me. I could win everyday in bbm and I would still be nothing more then a average player. I was angry and felt like I had to do something so I got back into mlp and plc on two different ids(try banning me now I thought..here's something for you admins, the ids may or may not still be in mlp, gl on that one). I played for people you wouldn't expect me to and I was a reason for alot of teams not getting timed out or losing, I had even played multiple games during one match several times if it was my league or not. It seemed like I was playing about 3-5 matches a week when I was banned.

I was playing pool any time I could. It was what I wanted to win in more then anything, I was completely obsessed with ypool. The only people worth anything to me were the ones I felt could help me get to what I wanted. Which was to be the best plain and simple. If I hated you and you were a good player there are good chances I was nice to you just so I could remind myself how to beat you if we ever played in an inter league. By the end of the season I was tired of making other people look good and I stopped doing it as frequently. I was unbanned in mlp and made admin in plc (on the id I joined after I was banned so technically I might still be banned?)I left bbm where I felt like they were holding me back because of how arrogant everyone was, it was a competition every night to prove who was the better player. I had to get away from it and feel like I belonged with a class of elite players. Here is when the 2nd best pressure player in mlp approached me to play with him. Dan (revolutionizingthegame) asked me to come with him to play in po and I felt like it was perfect.

PO had split and half the inter league team went to qz. It was my time to show that I could make a team better, I was someone worth having because I wasn't going to lose against anyone. PO turned into one of the best teams to ever play in mlp before week 1 of mlp. We were tea bagging the competition as someone so proudly said in mlp sc during the season. it was one of my best seasons but towards the end yet again I felt like I could do more. I was the anchor and made sure we started 1-0 and Austin has insured me it was important. I thought it was important for someone lesser then me(dick move yeah I know). I wasn't going to be playing game 1 anymore and after we lost to qz in the playoffs I knew my mvp season was about to happen. I left po without explanation and went to dp where I had the best time in ypool. I went with rob and Andy to dp. I was told to wait until I got my chance to prove myself and I waited, Adnan and Brandon didn't show up to a match and we had no game 7 player. being down 2-3 and I knew that someone had to play I could not be somebodies shadow anymore and I let rob know that I had to be game 7 without sounding like an asshole if that was possible. Rob played himself and had a pretty good outing...meanwhile I was on a training table practicing my power (I set up a routine I would have to clear prior to playing anything important) This was probably the fastest I had ever completed my training table to date and I would have bet my house on that game.

I don't even remember who I played but from the start of that game I can calmly say he never had a chance, I completely controlled the table from my break and I had a 5 to 2 ball advantage 10-15 minutes into the game capable of getting bih almost at will. When I won the game it was like the weight of the world was lifted from my shoulders as silly as it sounds. It was an incredible rush of something I cant describe to hold your composure in front of what seemed like hundreds of people even though it was probably 50 tops. I had one chance and that was it. The amount of pressure I put on myself to win was incredible it was the moment I had worked for since Brian told me I wasn't good enough to play for his team. I had arrived in ypool and it felt good. Rob assured me I would be game 7 from then on. From the start of 2005 to the end of 2005 I was matching myself up against the best player any team could offer and I cant say I lost any of the meaningful games (clinches or saves) with Andy as my witness. I was celebrated in dp as the best player in ypool and known as arguably the best between Luis and myself in overall play. It was a toss up to some between mick and myself in interleague play. When I realised I was being mentioned with Luis and Mick I just knew it was it, there was one more thing I had to do and that was win a cam comp....

This blog is going to be for my personal opinions, if they hurt anyones feelings I really wont care so dont cry to me about it. I am going to be writing about anything that I feel is worth writing about ypool or not.

I think its time to get this thought out of the way to start things off

I have been playing pool since the winter of 2002 on and off. Over the years of playing pool I have met many people and watched many of them leave to be forgotten. Since I have the memory of a lion I figured I would start off by listing some of the best forgotten talents.

This player during my start of interleague play (which was about 2004)was widely known as The best player that nobody ever saw lol (except of course the already great players from the time). I never saw this player during his peak in ypool, but I know that if theres any players word I can trust based on players skill from word of mouth it has to be Luis. He is the only player I currently see that will still keep to his word when he says this player was the best of all time...did I catch your attention?

Thats right the best player in yahoo pool for the last 6 years or longer doesnt even think he is the best player to ever play the game.

I guess if I could put this into a sports comparison it would have to be like Wilt Chamberlain and Michael Jordan. Everyone knows of Wilts 100 point game and crazy stats but it was so long ago who knows how he could do in todays game. Much of the same goes with this player. I will go as far to say as Luis may be the best ever to play the game but by respect I will agree with Luis and say Muta was the best player to ever play and yet is nearly forgotten like so many after him.

Now onto one of my personal favorite poolers to watch

He dominates the cue with precision and power control, he has impressive shot making ability and table vision that is tough to match during your best playing days. For as long as I can remember this was a guy you wanted to be able to play with just to learn from. He set the standard along with Luis of dominating play after Muta. He is one of the best complete runners I have ever played against and even though he went away from it in his later years he was in a top 5 all time category for safety play, undeniably.

My favorite bbm player and 2nd favorite 8br player. He is also the man I thought was arguably #1 throughout 2004-2007 in ypool.
